Oil Change

Full-Service Auto Repair In San Diego County

An oil change isn’t just routine maintenance; it’s the single most vital service for the longevity and performance of your vehicle’s engine. Fresh, clean oil lubricates moving parts, dissipates heat, and prevents friction, protecting your engine from premature wear. At Aero Auto Repair, we understand how essential this service is, and we’re committed to providing quick, reliable, and expert oil changes that keep your car running smoothly.

Why Regular Oil Changes Matter

Over time, your engine oil breaks down due to heat and friction, losing its ability to lubricate and protect. Driving with old, degraded oil can lead to increased engine wear, reduced fuel efficiency, and eventually, costly damage.

While recommended intervals vary (generally every 4 months or 4,000 miles for many conventional/synthetic blends, and longer for some full synthetics or European vehicles), staying on top of your oil change schedule is crucial.

When you bring your vehicle to Aero Auto Repair for an oil change, our service includes:

  • Complete Oil Drain & Refill: We thoroughly remove old, contaminated oil.
  • Premium Oil Filter Replacement: A new filter ensures dirt and debris are kept out of your engine’s fresh oil.
  • Quality Oil: We use the right type and grade of oil for your specific vehicle.

This essential service helps ensure your engine stays cool, clean, and well-lubricated, maximizing its lifespan and performance.

Frequently Asked Questions

How often should I change my oil?
Follow your owner’s manual or your vehicle’s oil life monitor most vehicles built since about 2011 calculate the interval from actual driving conditions, and that beats any generic mileage number. As a general guide, full synthetic typically runs 5,000 to 7,500 miles and some manufacturers specify longer. Short trips, towing and stop-and-go traffic shorten it.

What is the difference between synthetic and conventional oil?
Synthetic oil is engineered rather than simply refined from crude, giving it better thermal stability, stronger resistance to sludge and varnish, and more consistent protection at temperature extremes. It matters more than it used to: many modern engines particularly turbocharged and direct-injection engines – require synthetic, and using conventional can cause real damage.

Why does the oil filter matter as much as the oil?
The filter captures the dirt, carbon and metal particles the oil carries away from the engine. Leave a loaded filter in place and it eventually restricts flow enough to open its bypass valve, at which point unfiltered oil with all that debris still in it circulates straight through the engine. New oil through an old filter is contaminated within minutes.

Will getting my oil changed outside the dealer void my warranty?
No. Under the federal Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, a manufacturer cannot require dealer service as a condition of warranty coverage unless it provides that service free of charge. What matters is that the correct manufacturer-specified oil and filter are used and that the service is documented. We use the specification your vehicle calls for and keep a service record on file.

Do you use the specific oil my car requires?
Yes. We stock the full range of manufacturer specifications GM dexos, VW 502.00 and 504.00, Mercedes-Benz 229.5, BMW Longlife-01, Ford WSS grades, and the modern low-viscosity oils including 0W-20 and 0W-16. Modern engines call for specific viscosity and approval standards and substituting is not a minor shortcut, so we look up what your vehicle actually requires rather than guessing.

Do I need an appointment for an oil change?
Appointments are recommended the shops stay busy but walk-ins are always welcome and we will do our best to accommodate you. Most oil changes are same-day, and all four locations have an after-hours key box for early drop-off. Every oil change includes a digital inspection with photos and video, so you will see anything we find rather than just being told about it.
